The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) is an internationally recognized accrediting organization and widely regarded as the “gold standard” in public safety accreditation. The Academy voluntarily participates in the Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation program to demonstrate its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Through each assessment, the Academy ensures compliance with more than 170 rigorous CALEA standards while maintaining professionalism and the highest levels of operational integrity. These standards encompass every aspect of law enforcement training academy operations, including credentialing, organization, authority, human resources, academy staffing, instructional systems, training administration, instructors and students. The process also incorporates valuable feedback from students, staff, and training participants to support ongoing development and accountability.

The Crater Criminal Justice Training Academy (CCJTA) was awarded initial accreditation in July of 2025. As part of continuing in the accreditation program, the Academy participates in annually scheduled virtual reviews of implementation of both our policies and procedures.

As part of the on-going process to seek reaccreditation in 2029, the Academy annually seeks public comments on our ability to remain accredited. These comments can be made at http://cimrs2.calea.org/1021.

Please keep in mind your comments must address CCJTA’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards may be obtained by contacting the Academy Accreditation Manager, Emily Kasky, at ekasky@ccjta.org.

Those seeking to submit written comments addressing CCJTA’s ability to comply with CALEA standards may send the written comments directly via email to calea@calea.org or via mail to the following address:
